It's funny how life works. Opportunities come knocking on my door when i'm just about to leave for a while. I was just telling my dad what would be the opportunity cost going to Europe for 6 months and it turns out that currently there are more benefits staying back in the tiny red dot. Don't really want to elaborate much but I really do pray that God is sending me there for a reason (after so many missed opportunities in the first half of the year)

Oh well, like I always say, if only I knew. If only we knew, then bracing through life challenges won't be fun anymore. Looking back at past experiences won't matter as well.

Finally got my long awaited visa which enables me to a multitudes of Ang-mohs

Packing can take forever when you have a mum like mine.

Mum : Nik!! Do you need to buy some food to bring over there?

Me : No need la, I can buy over there!

The next thing I knew, my bag's filled with maggi mees, energy bars,milo, and some unknown vitamins. Like they say, mumknows best! (;

It's not very fun to be studying and having exams during Christmas period. It is not worth to even try to think of studying during this period.

Well, you get distractions for facebook. Friends uploading their holiday pictures and status updates to further test your temptation. Reunions,gatherings etc etc, the list goes on and on

My trip to the dentist resulted in the extraction of my wisdom tooth. I still can feel the thread hanging down from my wounds and it's kind of fun to play with it using my tongue. haha!

Just got back from supper with my seniors and I concluded a few things,

Year 1: Learning to adapt to university life

Year 2: Trying to ace your results

Year 3: Wanting to utilize your university days

Year 4: Worry about employment.

I guess each stage of life has their own worries. Now we all have a common worry, exams!

Wisdom Tooth

The teething process is a painful one and the worst part it's close to my exams:(
Let's just hope it would not grow crooked and affect the rest of my straight teeth. On the bright side, let's hope it gives me more wisdom for my exams!

Just a Dream

I've been watching too much youtube lately. Didn't know most youtube stars are so young which makes me wonder why I never really did something big like them. Was it lack of opportunity? Or was it lack of determination? or no luck? Wayne Rooney just needs to play soccer his whole life while we need to do all sorts of nonsense and still can't match up to him.

I can only dream I'll score at Old Trafford :(

Europe Trip

:( it's not cheap to go for an exchange programme. This month itself I had to fork out almost 1.5k sgd for visa, accommodation and insurance. Next few weeks will be more as I will need to stock up on winter clothing etc.

It's definitely tempting to snap up cheap deals at the moment but it got me thinking again if I was there just to travel.

As for now these are the few things I want to accomplish while I'm over there

1) Visit Old Trafford
2) Kick a ball in Old Trafford
3) Roll on Old Trafford grass
4) Steal a patch of grass from Old Trafford and plant it in my house

I'll die a happy man if I visit Old Trafford xD


And oh, I want to go to the north pole too! anyone want to tag along?

Busy?

Once upon a time a very strong woodcutter ask for a job in a timber merchant, and he got it. The paid was really good and so were the work conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do his best.

His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to work.

The first day, the woodcutter brought 18 trees

"Congratulations," the boss said. "Go on that way!"

Very motivated for the boss’ words, the woodcutter try harder the next day, but he only could bring 15 trees. The third day he try even harder, but he only could bring 10 trees.Day after day he was bringing less and less trees.

"I must be losing my strength", the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on.

"When was the last time you sharpened your axe?" the boss asked.

"Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees..."

Sunday is Call Home Day

Sunday is call home day for me, for at least I try to call back and let my parents know how much I miss them I'm doing well! (:

Today I had the coolest reason to buy a new netbook/tablet.

Dad: Oh yea son, remember the last time you told me you wanted to buy a netbook/tablet? I think you should buy a new one because the voltage in Finland might be different from Singapore and Malaysia. It's 230volts here and 110volts there.

Me: *O.O still shocked* Eerrrrr, Okay I'll remember about the voltage when I buy it! =D

Life is hard. Whoever told you it was going to easy was the biggest liar. I sometimes wonder why do I always have to endure/do the hard way. I still question myself at times why do Singapore unis have to work their ass off while other unis just have fun and still ranked higher than us kiasu idiots.

I told myself today that if ever I reflected on my weeks in NTU and journal it down, I could definitely write a book already.

Room Inspection

If you have been to my room, you will notice there is a big black dustbin outside. It took the hall office a month to notice the big black box and it came along with a little note.

Yesterday was Mid Autumn Festival and I rarely took notice since I was never really exposed to the culture till I came to Singapore. You can't blame me, a banana from a town called Petaling Jaya whose circle of friends are equally yellow and unripe, to celebrate this festival.

Legendary Squatter

I have a legendary squatter. He is really legendary, you should meet him yourself (: For those who don't know what a squatter is, they are basically roomless international students who by a stroke of bad luck failed to obtain a room. Hence they resort to squatting in their friends room until they get a room for themselves.

Ask me why every soul wants a room in NTU and I would say because we live on an isolated island in Singapore. For myself, I'm lucky to get a room and this time my legendary friend squatted with me.

That's the helpful legendary crew to shift his things. A record of 10 people were needed to shift his luggage around XD The rest didn't want to be associated as Sai Kang warriors.

I'm practically counting down the days to the end of my 4 months break! Here we go again! Year 3 sem 1! One thing makes me wonder is why can't my bank account never sees a net increase? I'm trying to track where were the holes and I guess this is why,

July Ends

July is about to end which means the break is going to be all over in a month's time. Sometimes I wonder to myself, why did I ever embark on this journey? I wonder to myself at times how is it possible to juggle work, entrepreneurship, reports, and social life.

I do wish I could just go to a secluded area up in the mountains and spend time alone reflecting.

I've a new hobby and dream.

GSS, it reunites hearts and worst of all causes a huge hole in our pockets. I've always wondered how retail shops managed to survive even with the huge cuts that they are offering. Just a week ago, three legendary friends came to visit me or should I say came because of the GSS (:

I got myself the coolest t-shirt ever from Cotton On just for 5 dollars. Haha!

Don't get me wrong here, I bought the shirt because it's cheap. The wonderful picture was an additional bonus to the price,not the other way round.

Just like any other weekends, my bro and I would make random trips to JB to do some exploration and this time we found a really nice and cheap spot to fill our stomach.

Brother getting some Ikan Bakar for only 10 ringgit! We should do this more often. Yummy!

And so I went to Jurong Point yesterday to get myself a pair of new jeans. Not because I felt like it but because my old pasar malam Levi's jeans were all torn and tattered.

From a little hole it multiplied to 6. Even my jeans follows the geometric progression

All I did was just informed my parents I bought a new pair of Levi's jeans they their first reaction was,"Wah now kaya already la"

Today I worked as an old newspaper boy in the library. From carrying tonnes of boxes and recycled paper to weighing them it kinda gave me a little insight to a life as an old newspaper man, or in the Singapore context, Karanguni.

It's fun, we should do this more often. It would be interesting if life could be recycled as well.

I don't stalk that cute Filipino girl, I'm just observing her.

Believe it or not, it's only my second time home this year and i'm loving every moment of it. My homecoming is as if my parents were greeting some super star from Singapore.

I get string of messages from dad asking what's my ETA. I even get breakfast prepared for me when I wake up. They leave an extra car for me to drive and hang out with my buddies. Guess things never really change back home. Even my dog keeps whining when I first step foot into my home.

The posters on my wall still remains and my little brother still snores out loud. My mum even suggested I should try part time modeling since I'm 2 F's now. Fatter and Fairer @.@

Homecoming

I'm really excited to go home. My mood is generally happier these few days, maybe it's the excitement that I finally get to get some home cooked food and catch up with my parents.

I really do miss everything! ahhh! I admit I'm getting engrossed with work here and the only way to get me home would be buying my return ticket(;

Truly home is where the heart belongs.

God's Timing

God's timing is always right. I can't thank Him more for what He has done for me in the past few days. In moments when you feel that there is no more hope, He stretches His arm to save you. He did that for me yesterday and I'm truly blessed.

Today I promise to repay that hope and trust that they saw in me. To those who believed in me, thank you so much. I'm just out of words already.

Summer Time

Exams are over and that also means that i'm done with year 2. Guess time really flies when you are hard at work (:

No more exams means more of something else. I've got so many things I want to achieve during this summer and I'm already listing them down. Wohooo! Exciting!But first of all, maybe I should make a short trip back home. Mum keeps on bugging me to go home and spend some time with them.Maybe I would if they bought me a car here to drive back on weekends :p

Ah! But for now, time to repay all the sleep debt and get my goals right again! New year, new goals, fresher girls. Awesome. I can't wait but first I need to overcome this little hurdle,

Expired Goods

Somehow I have this weird habit of keeping things in my room and not touch them for a period of time. Yesterday, I decided to check up on my stored food and guess what I found.

Expired and expiring goods.

1) Expired Milo - 11/11/2009. I even tried making a cup for myself but did not take a sip. Haha! Expired milo tends to coagulate together no matter how hard you stir. Quite cool!

2) Expiring chicken essences. 24/4/2010. Yes today is the 20th (: And so I decided to bless my church members who were studying hard in school XD

Moral of the story:

Mum, don't need to buy vitamins,nutritious goods for me because you are not here to force it down my throat. haha! In fact, I think my brother's Vitamin B's already expired too. haha!

It's so hot, I better go take a swim in my new pool! Bye!

Home

The beauty about being back home is that I learnt to appreciate things more.

I love eating home cooked food even though mum isn't the best cook. I love listening to my dad's rants even though he isn't the greatest story teller. I love eating junk with my little brother even though I have to pay for it.

Above all, I love taking a step back even though I know I have tonnes of work waiting for me.
